Easy Hacks For A Better Gaming Experience Part Three
I hope you’ve had a chance to try some tips from part one and two of my easy gaming hacks! I’ve been focussing on the body but now it’s time to give some attention to our mind and spirit. After all, if those aren’t healthy it makes it harder to take care of the body too. So let’s get to it shall we?
1. Be kind in chat: Let’s face it, some pretty awful things have been said to people while gaming. Take a moment and remember why you play video games in the first place. To have FUN right? Maybe even make a few online friends along the way. Sometimes we’re playing with people we don’t know at all. We don’t know their age, their gender, their skill level, whether or not they have a disability, nothing. Part of what makes playing so fun is that we’re connecting with gamers across the world! Pretty cool huh? There will be times we’re going to play with someone who hasn’t played as long and hasn’t honed their skill level or heck, doesn’t know left from right (speaking for myself of course!). Before embarking on a verbal assault you’d just die if your grandma saw, stop and remember the #1… Fun. So what if you loose the match. Who cares if you can’t take down the boss. Just about everyone is playing for the same reason. To have a good time. And remember, it could be a 10 year old kid on the other side. Or, a teen with autism. Or, it just might be your grandma!
2. Reduce rage: Keeping your emotions in check can certainly help with number one. It can also ensure that you continue to have a great game night and end on a high note. Getting angry causes tremendous stress on the body. Pretty much the opposite of what we’re trying to accomplish with such an awesome hobby. Pay attention to how you’re feeling. Take deep breaths and know when to get up and walk away for a few minutes when you do start to get frustrated. Gaming is supposed to make us smile after all!
3. Catch some Zzz’s: Sometimes you’ve just had enough. Listen to your body. It’s smart and will certainly let you know when it’s time to recharge your batteries. Most of us don’t get enough sleep and it catches up with us over time. Adults need 7-8 hours a night. Teens need 9-10 hours (uh, not 12-15!). Getting the right amount of rest keeps us at our optimum performance level and will help prevent the grouchiness and for lack of better words, the nerd rage that can creep up on us while we play.
Rest up and happy gaming!
